Cracklin’ Dawn
OIL ON CANVAS
24” X 48”
2017
During my travels to Central India, by the vast banks of the revered river Ma Narmade (as it is fondly called, being the lifeline for the civilisation there), I have seen a myriad of transformations in the sky and it’s moods reflected upon the river. Narmada aptly means ‘the giver of pleasure’ and I have always been alleviated by a soothing feeling, dawning upon the life around it, which wakes up with its blessings as if showered by the light from the heavens.
Blazin’ Dusk
OIL ON CANVAS
48” X 24”
2018
Skies are a living being, forever transforming and changing it’s moods. Serene at times, at others, furious, sometimes simmering, then suddenly bursting out into a blaze, they never cease to inspire awe. The most rapid of these transformations can be seen towards the dusk, especially when the monsoons are retreating, be it in colors or in forms. Here, I have tried to capture one such brief moment, while I remained astounded by it for much longer.
Molten Mornin’
OIL ON CANVAS
18” X 14”
2018
During the summertime in Central India, the skies dazzle and the parched life seeks refuge from heat. The streams tend to dry up and the wild life has little shade or water to quench its thirst. While the Sun seems to be pouring down like lava, river Narmade is always aplenty with serene waters.
